Aleasa Dawn Atwood
SPRINGFIELD, IL- Aleasa Dawn Atwood, 44, of Springfield, died at 12:29 pm, Friday, August 3, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born with Prader-Willi Syndrome on October 24, 1973 in Vancouver, British Columbia to Mark and Nancy (Jenkins) Atwood. Even with this syndrome she overcame many obstacles throughout her life.
Survivors include her mother, Nancy (Harvey) Dunham of Chatham; father, Mark Atwood of Springfield; one sister, Rebecca Atwood of Charleston, SC; companion, Allen Stinnett and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and one aunt, Linda Jenkins Sorensen.
Aleasa was a resident of Springfield for most of her life, graduating from Springfield High School in 1994. She worked for the Department of Professional Regulations for over 20 years. Aleasa enjoyed playing any games, watching game shows, and doing puzzle books. She was a participant in many Special Olympic sports. Her infectious laugh and love for excitement will be missed by all.
Visitation: 10 am – 12 pm, Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 12 pm, Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SPARC.
