Albert L. Eckhoff, Jr., 69, of Springfield, died at 1:25 am, Thursday, November 12, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born June 18, 1946 in Springfield to Albert L. Eckhoff, Sr. and Bessie L. Newell.
Survivors include one daughter, Chelsea Eckhoff of Interlachen, FL; one son, Albert E. Eckhoff of Springfield; two sisters, Sharon (Dennis) Carpenter of Springfield and Kayte (Paul) Mullady of Decatur; three brothers, Gary Newell of Divernon, Howard Eckhoff of Los Angeles, Ca and Mark (Candace) Eckhoff of Farmer City; one aunt, Mary (Bob) Shinnick of Loami and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Albert was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed off track betting.

He worked for Prairie State Gaming as the Director of Business Development.

Memorial Gathering: 11am – 1pm, Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home.

Memorial Service: 1 pm, Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with Cindy Lash, West Side Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Sangamon County Inter Veterans will conduct military honors.
