Albert J. Bianco
SPRINGFIELD – Albert J. Bianco, 95, of Springfield died at 12:05 a.m. Sunday, March 29, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital.
He was born Feb. 2, 1914, in Riverton, the son of Ralph and Jennie Ursini Bianco. He married Rita Zohlen on Nov. 29, 1941.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Bianco; four sisters, Clara Camille, Rose Bianca and two infant sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Rita; three daughters, Carol Ann (Fred) Naffziger of South Bend, Ind., Mary (Brent) Tennant of Kingsport, Tenn., and Catherine (Norman) Robertson of South Bend, Ind.; three sons, James (Cathy) Bianco of Las Vegas, Thomas (Barbara) Bianco of San Antonio and John (Peggy) Bianco of Hillsboro, N.C.; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Erma DalVello of Dallas; a brother, Frank Bianco of Peoria; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Albert was a lifelong resident of Springfield.
He was a traffic manager at Allis-Chalmers, retiring after 44 years.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Knights of Columbus 364, United Commercial Travelers, Travelers Protective Association and Roman Cultural Society, where he was a past president. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed making furniture. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening and traveling.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. David Hoefler officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
