Agnes A. McKenzie
With mixed grief and joy, Dennis and Diane, announce that their mother, Agnes, has left for a while to go and live in the presence of her (and our) Lord and Savior, Jesus, where she will be reunited with many family and friends.
I have never known a person more compassionate, empathetic, and kind. People loved her very quickly because of the kindness that shined out from her. She, too, loved quickly.
You could be a complete stranger and if you were hurting or in need, she wanted to help you. She did not forget about you. One year (or years) later, she would remember that you had needed something and wondered, “Were you okay now? Did you still need my help?”
Agnes was a very intelligent person and was one of the rare folks who listened more than she spoke. She understood that God gives a person two ears and one mouth for a reason.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her children spent a lot of time with her in the days and hours prior to her passing, and she basked in their presence and love. They (we) all counted ourselves as blessed and privileged to share love with her as her final moments came to a close.
We were able to give her much love, hugs, kisses, reassurance, encouragement, hand holding, and hope.
I trust that she was as wonderful a child, sister, friend, aunt, wife, cousin, in-law, and neighbor as she was to us.
I owe to her the best and most important things that I learned and choices that I made in life.
Neither you, nor the lessons learned from you, nor the examples that you demonstrated so effortlessly will be forgotten by those of us who were privileged to have been in that circle of people who knew and were known by you.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who tended, looked after, cared for, and nursed Agnes in recent years.
We will see you again, before too long.
Much love to you.
