James "Jim" Clinton Ferguson
James C. Ferguson, Sr. beloved husband and forever soulmate of Connie Dove Ferguson passed away at his home in Rochester at 1:40 pm, Sunday, March 20, 2016. He was born October 10, 1941 in Springfield, to Patrick and Mary McBride Ferguson. He married Constance “Connie” Dove on June 16, 2001 and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Dawn R. (Brian) Ratliff of Athens, Debbie S. (Brad) Pelham of Malone, FL and Karen (Slade) Kirby of Athens; four sons, John R. (Tami) Ferguson of Rochester; Scott (Cassie) Ferguson of Columbia Falls, MT, James (Janice) Ferguson, Jr. of Memphis, TN and Don (Jill) Scott of Springfield; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters Bonnie Jaross of California and Patricia Sheffield of Texas; several nieces and nephews, including Daniel Monkman of Springfield and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Judith Ellen Slagle in 1992; second wife, Judith Ann Purdy in 1991; two sisters, Mabel Monkman and Jean Delaney and three brothers, Mike, Joe and Ronnie Ferguson.
Jim was a US Navy veteran. He was a member of the NRA, Harley Owners Group “HOG”, and Ducks Unlimited.
He retired in 1996 after twenty eight years of service as Electrical Store Room Manager for CWLP.
Visitation: 11:30 am – 1:30 pm, Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home.
Graveside Service: 2 pm, Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Burial Detail and the US Navy will conduct military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Rifle Association.
The family requests visitors to dress casual and Harley attire is welcomed.
