Joshua J. Cook, 25, of Springfield, died at 12:54 pm, Friday, December 25, 2015, at his home. He was born June 6, 1990 in Iowa City, IA, to Richard and Karen Perry Cook. He married Lara Dawson on August 3, 2013, and she survives.
Also surviving are one son Brady James Cook; parents, Richard and Karen Cook of Belgrade, MT; one sister, Oliva Cook; two brothers Tanner and Beau Cook; mother and father-in-law, Mandy and Larry Dawson of Mulkeytown, IL; grandparents Clarence & Mary Lou Perry of Mt Pleasant, IA, Katy Cook of Davenport, IA, Charlotte and Larry Dawson of Mulkeytown, IL; Jim Long of Herrin, IL and Jerry Switzer of Golconda, IL and Great grandma, Eva Polchow of Phoenix, AZ; brother-in-law, Ryan (fiancé Jessica Phillips) Dawson of Mulkeytown, IL
He was preceded in death by his grandmas, Jo Long and Evelyn Perry and grandpa, Wayne Cook, Sr.
Joshua was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Yorkville, IL. He loved to play softball and had played baseball with the Central Illinois Cannons and Lincoln College Lynx. He also played football and baseball for Glenwood and Yorkville, High Schools.
He was a resident of Springfield since 2012 and worked as a supervisor for Springfield Pepsi
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 4:00 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Thursday, December 31, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Church in Chatham with Fr. Manny Cuizon, CRS officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln College for a Baseball Scholarship.
