Shirley D. Klunick
Shirley D. Klunick, 84, of Springfield, died at 8:30 am, Sunday, April 8, 2018 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born June 17, 1933 in Peoria, IL to William and Margaret (Noble) Wieland. She married Warren J. Klunick on July 13, 1963.
Surviving are her husband, Warren; one son, Craig (Brenda) Elliott of Chatham; two daughters, Karen (William) Manns and Susan (Nick) Hackett, both of Springfield; six grandchildren, Amanda (Alex) Woods, Nathan Estes, Ryan Estes, Megan Washburn, Alexis Manns and Addyson Hackett; one great grandchild, Annabelle Woods; one sister, Sharon (Robert) Cormany of Peoria; sister-in-law, Norma Stecz; two nieces, Kimberly (Rich) Kensell, Jr. and Kris Cormany; nephew, George (Lynn) Stecz and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant brother, William and brother-in-law, George “Jersey” Stecz.
Shirley was an avid Southeast High School athletics fan. She also enjoyed watching the Cubs.
She retired from the State of Illinois Employee Retirement System after many years of service.
Visitation: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Dave Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
