Pat Wagner 98, of Springfield, passed away at 11:35 pm, Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Villa Healthcare East in Sherman. She was born June 20, 1919 in Blue Island, Illinois to Fred Alexander and Bessie Poehlsen Alexander. She married Norman Wagner in 1945, and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1990, after forty-five years of marriage.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Marybeth Wagner and three sisters, Juanita Mindeman, Jean Kinnamon and Jacqueline Seaver.
She is survived by her four children, Douglas (Caren) Wagner of Sherman, Daniel Wagner of New Berlin, Dianne K. Bishop and Peter J. “PJ” (Linda) Wagner, both of Springfield; six grandchildren, Ray (Stacey) Bishop, Mike (Liz) Bishop, Kara (Eric) Bishop Glaub, Jay Wagner, Brad (Mariah) Wagner, and Sara Wagner; seven great grandchildren, Brendon and Madison Bishop, Kennedy and Mason Bishop, Simon and Norah Glaub and Averie Lane Wagner and one sister, Yvonne Ruehl of Wisconsin.
Pat worked as a professional dancer in Chicago. She was a homemaker and military spouse and worked at Sears for ten years. She danced with the Senior Services of Central Illinois, Rockettes of Ages, at the state fairs and Mature Mob shows.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Church and a life member of the VFW 755 Auxiliary and also the DAV Auxiliary. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Lady Elks Lodge, Eagles Aerie #237, AARP Chapter #195, 3rd Age Living and Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Monday, October 9, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A prayer service will be held at 4 pm.
Funeral Mass: 12:30 pm, Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at St. Aloysius Church with Reverend Clinton Honkomp, OP, officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or National Alliance on Mental Illinois “NAMI”.
