Margaret E. Balu
Margaret E. Balu, 90, of Springfield, died at 3:19pm, Sunday February 25, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on April 27, 1927 in Terre Haute, IN to Burl and Sarah (Ferguson) Keith. She married Alex M. Balu on December 7, 1946 and he preceded her in death on November 5, 2014.
Margaret was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She will be missed by her five children, Peggy (Pete) Peters of Normal, Dale (Kathy) Balu of Dillon, CO, Brian (Judy) Balu of Houston, TX, Dean (Tammy) Balu of Florissant, MO, and Laura (Kelly) Alexander of Springfield; twelve grandchildren, Tom, Jeremy, Kellie, Alexander, Anna, Tara, Lauren, Bethany, Micah, Katherine, Alicia, and Nicole; four great-grandchildren, Oliver, Lyla, Cayden, and Noah; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She enjoyed camping trips all over the United States that she and her husband, Alex, planned over many years together. Margaret loved reading and read thousands of books in her lifetime.
She simply adored her family. One of her favorite ways to show her love was to prepare meals and care for them. She also loved ice cream and popcorn as well as flowers, birds and listening to her grandchildren sing and play the piano.
Memorial Gathering: 10:30 – 11:30 am, Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Cherry Hills Baptist Church.
Memorial Service: 11:30 am, Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Cherry Hills Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Wilmarth officiating.
A private burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
