Linda Sue Loyd
Linda Sue Loyd, 68, of Springfield, died at 5:36 pm, Friday, March 17, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center. She was born in Springfield on January 7, 1949, to Mario and Rita Antonacci, and they preceded her in death. She married Charles “Mike” Loyd on August 9, 1975, and they were married for 28 years. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2003.
Survivors include her daughter, Rita Loyd (fiancé Chris Arcynski) of Los Angeles, CA; her Yorkie, Mikey; half-sister, Becky (Bob) Croteau of Springfield; sister-in-law Cathy (Larry, Sr.) Sanderson of Springfield; brother-in-law Hal “Butch” Loyd of Melbourne Beach, FL; nieces and nephew: Jennifer Sanderson, Larry Sanderson, Jr., Nancy Sanderson, Kelly Jo Bunce; several other nieces and nephews, two great-nieces and three great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Richard “Dick” Antonacci and niece, Denise Loyd.
Linda was a life-long resident of Springfield and a member of Christ the King Church. She served as the Assistant Postal Clerk for the Illinois House of Representatives for 38 years, and previously worked for 8 years at JC Penney.
She volunteered at New Salem Theatre in the Park, Lincoln Presidential Museum, she was an active member of the Breast Cancer Support Group at Memorial Medical Center, enjoyed puzzles, collecting Princess Diana memorabilia, loved to dance, the Beatles, bird watching, butterflies, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
She touched many people’s hearts and will always be remembered for that.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield. A prayer service will be held at 4 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 am, Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Christ the King Church with Reverend Joe Ring officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the Lincoln Presidential Museum.
